Dr. Laura Lewis, PhD is the Programme Director of the Ellison Scholars programme, which aims to find the next great innovators from around the world and expedite their journey to solving some of humanity’s biggest global problems through technology and leadership.

She previously served as a Deputy Director of Rise, an initiative of Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust which focuses on supporting young people starting at age 15 with lifetime benefits and development opportunities.

Laura has a MSc and PhD in Systems Biology – focusing on interdisciplinary study of the molecular biology of plant pathology, where she specialised in analysing large gene expression datasets during the infection process. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford, where she read Biological Sciences.
