Susie Barber is the Communications and Outreach Manager for the Ellison Scholars
Study Programme. She is responsible for leading the Scholars communication and
outreach strategy, website and social media channels.
Susie is passionate about putting students at the heart of the programme’s messaging to external audiences and internal stakeholders. She devises creative content to celebrate the talents and achievements of Ellison Scholars and to showcase how great young minds can create lasting impact.
Prior to joining the Ellison Institute, Susie worked at the University of Oxford as Communications and Public Engagement Manager for the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health. Here, she directed a wide range of marketing campaigns to promote their multi-disciplinary research on maternal and fetal health, reproductive medicine and genetics, cancer and global health, across various platforms, including websites, social media and podcast channels, women’s health symposiums and science fairs, to help inform and inspire the public. Susie has also previously worked in the non-for-profit sector in senior fundraising roles at charities, Oxfam, WaterAid and Comic Relief.
Susie graduated from Lancaster University with a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in Communication and Media. Outside of work, Susie is a mum of two and loves mountain climbing, theatre, concerts and camping.
